Natalie Harris Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

I love coming alongside people who desire to experiment with permission to eat and feed a family in a way that feels freeing and sustainable without pressure

Let me help you with your current eating concerns, so you can move forward with a plan that works for YOU

Hi, I’m Natalie Harris

I understand the pressure that women often feel to eat perfectly AND to feed their families perfectly.

In the almost 15 years that I’ve been in this field, the number one thing I’ve learned is that understanding, patience, and empathy are key when helping clients sift through their history with food and weight.

I’ve seen how this leads people to trying SO many eating plans that are filled with rules and restrictions.

This often leaves them feeling lost and confused. Not to mention that they don’t even realize they are already doing well in so many areas and have the tools to move forward already.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is that there is no perfect way to eat and when the rules of exactly what and how much to eat are set aside, there is enjoyment in discovering a more sustainable and internal way to live and enjoy eating again.

As a dietitian, I’ve worked hard to maintain continuing education in the field of eating disorders and disordered eating recovery with an emphasis on a non-diet approach.

My training and education are in Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole and the Ellyn Satter models (ecSatter and fdSatter) while focusing on food and weight-neutral concepts.

I know what I can and cannot help with when it comes to behavior change.

As an Ellyn Satter Institute Affiliate I know I can help with the behavior of eating and since diets don’t work for most people (and can do harm both physically and psychologically), I address weight concerns but I don’t see it as a behavior that I can change.

Supervision and continuing education are important and enjoyable to me, so I am always learning the best ways to come alongside my clients

My Mission

To teach Ellyn Satter models to individuals, families, and communities so that food and eating can be a positive and enjoyable experience. To provide fair pay to dietitians and support them on their journey to owning their own practice if that is a goal of theirs. To contribute to research toward ecSatter and fdSatter models.

My Values

Food

Family

Faith

Finances

All of these areas require a relationship and they are all interconnected. Each area impacts the other and when there is a connection between learning how to sense, trust, and tolerate internal feelings and physical sensations such as hunger and appetite it is a reflection of the ability to sense, tolerate, and trust people and a higher power. Finances play such a large role in life, and that relationship can reflect and impact how we live. Humility is important to me.

My Favorites

01

My favorite food is a hearty balanced salad with a flavorful dressing AND a side that adds texture (so maybe fries, a potato, or a roll). If I only eat a salad- oftentimes I don’t feel satisfied.

02

While I value meal planning, shopping, prep, and cooking I can’t say that I really love the process.

03

I appreciate the creative dietitians, chefs, and people, including my spouse, who love to cook. My husband is a better cook than me and I get to enjoy good food thanks to him. I’m secretly looking forward to not having to think about food so much while my kids are in college.

04

Being active is important to me, but I also love to sleep.

My Process

I start with a thorough assessment to understand your history and what brought you to meet with me. This usually takes a couple of sessions.

Then we proceed to work together for another 3-4 sessions to get a sense of whether you feel this model helps you and if you want to keep working with me, if you decide this is something that is helping then we plan to meet for several more sessions with an opportunity to assess progress.

In general, most people feel enough progress has been made after about 9 sessions, but we can continually assess if more support is needed. I also offer a group program for people who prefer the lower financial option and/ or prefer group support.
